VISUAL ARTIST

BIO

Being a multidisciplinary and concept driven visual artist, allows me to utilise and exploit the potential of many mediums, materials or found objects in my work. For many years, I have been in the depths of exploring identity, mental health and the expectations forcing themselves down on us by ourselves and society.

The generation of my ideas develops primarily on my first-hand recordings, in various forms such as drawings, photos, note making, of the ups, the downs, the excitement and the drudgery of everyday life. The monotonous acts of the everyday absolutely fascinate me, as do extreme emotional states, and these have often become the catalyst to many of my most powerful artworks.

My discoveries are realised through many different mediums, often beginning as photographs and drawings, and in turn becoming paintings or assemblage sculptures in the most part, which can happen on a variety of scales (sometimes minuscule, and in stark contrast to this, sometimes on a monumental scale) and on unconventional surfaces, such as Barbies, Russian dolls or Polaroid photographs.

‘My raw and deeply emotive discoveries have most recently manifested themselves as assemblage sculptures, exploiting unusual surfaces, such as Barbies and Russian dolls, with the conglomeration of scavenged, hoarded or rescued personal and natural objects.’
