RUTH FILDES
Self
Obsessed with the
human condition, acute interrogations occur, deeply examining notions of self with the need to understand and overcome.
About me
For many years, I have been in the depths of exploring identity, mental health and the expectations forcing themselves down on us by ourselves and society. The generation of my ideas come from the scrutiny of everyday life and more specifically of the human condition in its many powerful forms and controlling guises. Ideas are realised through many different mediums, sometimes beginning as photographs and drawings, occasionally becoming prints and paintings, which occur on a variety of scales and on and with unusual objects, such as Barbie and Russian dolls, historical second-hand postcards and everyday ephemera, all of which further enrich and deepen the examination and realisation of self and of humanity.
